Stein Institute for Research on Aging & Center for Healthy Aging

This research center is associated with the UC San Diego campus. It has free public lectures throughout the year for those in the area. You can get follow-up videos if you can't attend. Their newsletter for the general public is always packed with valuable insights into the process of aging and what they are studying. I am thrilled with their use of the familiar term "ager". Maybe it's catching on!

One of the excellent offerings of this premier biomedical institute is a free course on the science of aging. It is self-paced and will give you the basics for understanding the biology of the aging process. You can find it here. You will need to register but there are no other obligations. USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology

This massive educational and research facility has many individual institutes and centers focusing on aging. Take a look at the scope of their investigations here.Their public outreach is very impressive. Here are their publications and social media sections. The You Tube Channel has 250 videos on all aspects of aging.

The distinguished faculty includes Vater Longo, Ph.D. whom you may have met in the Who's Who section of this website. You could spend hours in these links and gain an advanced "degree" in gerontology as you lose track of time. Get "lost" and enjoy it!

Located on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania this is the headquarters of the Positive Psychology movement which has been flourishing for the last 20 years as the newest branch of professional psychology. It is also where the co-founder Martin Seligman Ph.D calls home. This is not an aging research center like others on this page but is as vital to aging as any other institution noted. Without a positive mental approach to aging the biology will suffer. Explore this site. You will find an association with Coursera where you can enroll in a number of online positive psychology classes. I believe the fee is $25 per month. Dr. Seligman is one of the teachers.

This center is connected to Standford University in northern California. It is under the direction of Laura Carstensen, Ph.D, whom you may have met in the Who's Who section. Besides training students to work in the longevity field it has a strong outreach program for the general public.

The Center has an outstanding collection of videos on all areas of aging with practical applications for living longer, healthier, and happier. Check out some of their nearly 300 videos on the You Tube Channel.

They have a division focusing on aging health issues that you can locate HERE. They continually update the site with medical and scientific articles on healtspan and aging that are geared towards the general public. I have just subscribed to their bi-monthly newsletter and will let you know later if I think it is valuable for AGERs.

The patient resources array is outstanding. Articles, downloads, podcasts and videos are available for the extensive list of neurological conditions they treat. The range of languages they utilize is impressive. Dr. Scott Kaiser, family physician and geriatrician, is an example of the highly trained and patient-centered staff. He is the director of Geriatric Cognitive Health and consults with the Brain Health Center. Here is Dr. Kaiser on a podcast about Alzheimer's.
