Positive Psychology is a relatively new branch of scientific study of the mind founded by Martin Seligman Ph.D and others around the year 2000. It focuses on mental health rather than mental illness. The AGER+LEARNS Decade Challenge system of successful aging uses the principles and practices of Positive Psychology as a foundation for understanding and changing our behavior and lifestyle to increase longevity, health and happiness.
Barbara Fredrickson, Ph.D.
Dr. Fredrickson is a professor of psychology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is one of the early researchers in the field of Positive Psychology and directs the Positive Emotions and Physiology [PEP]Laboratory.
